MIND POWER

Our Problems teach us how to live. Each problem we overcome strengthens us for the next one. By learning the rules of life, we learn how to accept and overcome them. The vast majority of people live their lives from day to day without a clearly defined pattern for their future.  Surveys taken have shown that 95% of people are living without an organized plan or specific goal. They are living their lives as a ship without captain. This is a food for deep thought.

We know many people are not interested in improving themselves. Some times this is because their minds have become lazy. Some feel that life is so hopeless that they have no spirit to fight for a cause. They have accepted defeat. They feel that their present course is easier than to embark upon a programme of self improvement. This is wrong, as the path of drifting aimlessly, is full of frustration and disappointment.

Just waiting for things to happen ends in disappointment. There are those who suffer year after year in misery, before they really search for a better plan of life. It is indeed sad that we often experience so much sorrow and failure, before we become serious about seeking the so-called secrets for successful living.

Throughout our country, there are businesses, both large and small, which constantly hang on the fringe of stability and success. There are others which show a little progress each year, but with very little to show for it, similar to undernourished plants. They grow enough to keep alive, but never seem to develop a strong and hardy outlook.

There is another group of businesses, limited in number, with phenomenal growth records. Their position is the envy of others. People are no different as the great majority (95%) live on in aimless direction from day to day. Many dread to see a new day come. There is the other group (5%) who greets each day with eagerness. What magical elements could have been added in the lives of those who go forward and meet life’s problems and obstacles with a fortitude and courage that overcomes their difficulties. This magical element is MIND which is owned by every one.

Since we all own this magical force, why there is such a difference in the picture of individual success. Actually we are all prone to become mentally tired through the pressure of daily problems. Where fatigue exists. Productivity and creativity either stops or the results are greatly weakened. Since we all are subject to this creeping paralysis, steps must be taken to resist it. We should leave the bed in the morning with the realization that we have been provided the most precious gift in shape of a new day (today). That should be greeted with a feeling of excitement, and eagerness to meet whatever problems it might bring, with full confidence in our ability to overcome them. This is the strength of spirit, and there is no force that can defeat the spirit that is fully alive and ready to meet all the challenges of life, personal and business. A study of the men and women who have great success reveal that their spirits and attitudes towards life were so strong that they carried them through their problems. There was no weakness of mind or spirit, and yet the characteristics that were the foundation of their success are available to every one. They are

1 determination  2  A positive  attitude  3  A willingness to work hard  4   A focus on continuously finding new ways to improve. The thought that there is always a room for improvement-that no matter how good we are, we are never as good as we want to be. In short, our mind is always open and always seeking ways to improve our personal life and our business life.” What ever the mind conceives and believes, mind can achieve” Many times the believing is difficult; we need a determination to believe that the road to success is always under construction. “Constant stimulation of mind” is the common thread that unites the five percent group. They maintain a high state of productivity and upon them the problems of life seem to make no impression whatsoever. These people know no fatigue ever. “Mental stimulation is like a food to be taken regularly” We should nourish our mind with great thoughts. All that a person achieves or fails to achieve is a direct result of his/her thoughts. Stimulation of brain can also be done by inspirational speeches time to time. It should be renewed regularly. It must receive a constant flow of nourishment to maintain its power. A good gardener knows the fact that soil must be fertile for a good crop. If it is not he must put some necessary ingredients to give it a magic touch of fertility. Same way in our personal and business lives magic touch is created by “Mental stimulation and constant inspiration”

“Nothing is impossible”   Inspiration jump start imagination, creativity, new ideas, the solution to problems. The answers are that you need to realize your specific goals. Whenever you see a strong leader, you see a person who is inspired and awakened his/her mind to his/her vast power and feeds his/her mind daily and keeps it in a state of stimulation. Whenever you are dissatisfied with scratching the surface, or with your position in your personal/ business life you should look inward for the answer because it can’t be found elsewhere. You can find elsewhere the inspiration to activate your own mental process and reach your own solution and whatever state of being that is desired.” But the action and answers must come with in “The growth of Mind and personality is similar to the process for the growth of a field of Vegetables. As the field must be tilled and made pliable to receive the seeds, so must our mind be constantly exposed to knowledge and reason As the seed must be nourished, the same way positive thoughts should be planted and nourished daily in our mind to give you the best probability of overcoming adversities. As moisture and sunlight provide the needed magic to nourish the plants, similarly a desire combined with determination to learn and a will provides the magic needed to improve daily.

The fabulous success stories of which you read are not accomplished by people smarter than you. The important thing is that “Each one of you has the power to achieve with in. No one else  can make happen for you, If your thoughts are negative only negative results are expected If  thoughts are positive no one can guarantee positive results but the  possibility of positive results is increased “. The first step towards ascending the heights is to OPEN YOUR MIND. We are all filled with prejudices, pre-conceived ideas, options and beliefs for which we are willing to fight at the slightest provocation which is harmful because they are often stumbling blocks that keeps us away from gaining new knowledge. Quite frequently, they are incorrect and unless we are willing to surrender them, then the acquirement of new knowledge is difficult. We should be open minded because open mind can’t have any conviction set in stone.

Often we are anxious to improve our circumstance but not ourselves. We must realize that that a complete house cleaning of one’s mind can not be accomplished in a short space of time. It is a never-ending task, because once we open our mind to receive new ideas, we must continually be engaged in mental house cleaning to review and re evaluate all ideas. For new knowledge to be acquired and incorporated it must be sought as accepted as possible truth. We seek the fertile field not the barren ground. However, even barren ground can yield rich harvest, if its soil is turned to the sun and other life giving substances. Our mind then can feel its tremendous potential to influence our behaviour in a positive way and move us from ninety five percent to five percent group.

DEGREE OF ACHIEVEMENT

The factors that go hand in hand with determining your degree of achievement are

1 DESIRE; It is the first requirement. You should have desire to achieve any goal.

2 IMAGINATION; you should visualize what you want. It should be clear in your mind.

3 DETERMINATION; your desire to achieve your goal/target should be strong. You should focus your mind daily on our target unless it is achieved.

4 PERSISTENCE; you should be very hard and steady in your execution to achieve your target.

It is well known that your mind operates on a limited fraction of its capacity. It is scientific truth that the unused part of human mind is capable of fantastic, unbelievable achievement. The vast masses of people make no effort to arouse this potential. They go on and on in their activity and visualize a limited world. They ignore completely the tremendous potential with in themselves and in most of the cases do not even realize its existence. Their mind sleeps soundly in the dark. Fortunately their mind is always ready to serve them. They need simply to flip the switch and a room that was dark becomes bright. It’s all in the mind.

Every person has the capacity to be great. So certainly one should feel the instinct for it. Some times the voice is so faint that it goes unrecognized. The capacity is still there waiting to be inspired. No one has ever reached the top of the symbolic ladder of success, as it reaches on to limitless space. The process of pursuing of happiness and success is a life-long, never-ending journey. A good mind-set for all of us is that life has offered us opportunities; we should open our mind, feed it daily and let it work its magic for us. No person has ever reached its full potential. Each person has power to go higher than reached. This lesson is for every one regardless of our present position / situation. As we ascend the ladder of success and happiness, the horizon correspondingly recedes and there lies ahead a potential and a capacity for greater things because sky is the limit for progress.

It does not matter much what lies behind or front of you but matters only what lies with in you. The mould of a person’s fortune is in his/her own hands. You should do one thing at one time forgetting those which are behind. The powers of the soul are commensurate with its needs. We are successors to a vast ocean of knowledge and inspirational material that challenges each of us to live our personal lives and our work lives with a positive attitude. This positive attitude challenge, in which we are all engaged, is never over. Obstacles and problems may come and go, but neither victory nor defeat can be recorded as permanent. Hope sustains life, faith and  courage. A nourished spirit and an imaginative and creative mind always remain victors in the final analysis.

Now we are to decide the level of our contentment regarding our achievements i.e.

Whether we are to walk the road of high endeavour with five percent group or the low road of complacency

SIGNIFICANCE OF TIME

TIME-OUR MOST PRECIOUS POSSESSION

TIME IS THE CHRYSALIS OF ETERNITY( Anant kaal)

God’s greatest and only gift to mankind is TIME because there is no favouritism, no variation and no imbalance in distribution to any person without any consideration for race, creed, colour or position under which one may be born. Each person receives the same allotment of just 24 hrs a day. In the real of TIME there is no aristocracy of neither wealth nor intellect. Even genius is never rewarded by an extra minute a day.

Time is a Mysterious an imponderable subject yet it penetrates every act and incident of our life. All our acts, thoughts, words, deeds and emotions are possible by it. Without it there could be no being. Time is inexplicably a part of divine will.We have derived new ways to save it. We have replaced mail communications with wireless, computers, courier service and emails. We place great premium on speed, spawning the need for new business daily….” quick fix -it” shops, one-hour cleaners, convenience stores, twenty four hours bank tellers, fast food chains, satellite communications, same day service, . All of these “quickies” are designed to save time.

All men and women are born equal. How these golden hours are used determines who becomes rich, poor, successful, failure . We are all prone to accept TIME which one can be sure of is NOW .Of every event of our life is one moment that it is; for ever after it was. Every evening we are poorer by a day. We dream great dreams and allow them to remain dreams because we think that we have no time to accomplish them, because we visualize their realization at some indefinite period in future.

TIME is the essence of everything. Actually it is the only fabric with which the cloth of our life is woven. And the pattern of our life is woven with our thoughts. Our present, future, and our desires to be fulfilled depend upon TIME.So we are to develop “TIME CONSCIENCENESS “for Each moment, each hour, each day.It can be wonderful for a cheerful, enlightened person with a positive attitude and can be a sad thing for a unhealthy person who can only see a swift approach to unconsciousness with each passing moment. With a well developed TIME CONSCIENCENESS we become fully aware of the essence in all fields of life. With our LIMITED CONSCIENCENESS we fail to

recognize our right to a share of all the good things of life. We fail to file our claim to the full abundance of all the things that are available to us

EACH MOMENT WE CAN LIVE in nice way if we visualize those things we possess in that moment of life because all the comforts can not come together all the times. Each daywhen we are doing something, thinking something, what is going around us we should whisper ten times “THIS MOMENT I LIVE “. For instance when we are returning home from the day’s work and greet our family. On this occasion we should think “This moment I live, I am a very wealthy person because I am surrounded by most precious gifts that life can offer “despite our low financial position.  We can further think “ I not only live, I breathe the free air, my health is good, I can walk, I think, I act and I am a part of all there is, and all there is a part of me “, These are the things that no circumstances of life can take from any one.

If the fate has decreed, that good health may be absent, or some physical impairment may mar the picture but innovative mind remains with us even                 then we should think “This moment I live” because of innovative mind. It means we should consider those things which we possess in that moment of life to remain happy

We are quoting one educative movie “He Leaded Me “. It is the story of Ken who was born blind. When Ken’s parents realized there is no hope of restoring his sight they determined to treat him as a normal child. They taught him how to play games and ride a bike and water ski

Years later he bumped with another blind student who said, “Hey, watch it.  Don’t “you see I am blind “Oh I am sorry I did not see you “Ken apologized? He attributes his positive outlook on life concentrating those things he could do instead of those things which he could not. He says “The handicap is not the blindness”. Every one is handicapped one way or the other. A handicap is whatever keeps us away from operating at our best. But a handicap is not bad. It may be the thing which motivates us and really gets us going. Say to whatever paralyzes us,” we will triumph over you you can not dominate us”. That may be the best exciting and spiritually rewarding thing that happens to us

Ken’s father advised him so many times either to sit down and feel sorry for him self or to get up and live. This is the bottom line for all of us. Either we should sit around and feel sorry for ourselves or get up and live. For any problem in mind there is either SALVATION OR SOLUTION. When we reach the greatest extremes of endurance” if we have control of our minds we have control of our destiny”

Actually we can not do things tomorrow that we put off today because tomorrow has its own requirements. Moreover it is a burden upon time to carry over something for the next day which could have been done today. This way we create a debt upon time which can never be paid. Also it becomes a tendency to put it off again on next day. It becomes habit and if we establish a habit of procrastination it rules our activity. If we put off adopting a constructive and positive attitude today, we most likely will postpone it again tomorrow. If we fail to give our best today, most likely we fail tomorrow also. Time is inexorable and no one is permitted an opportunity to relive a single moment of it. It slips through the gossamer fabric of our existence, uncomplaining, unprotesting and unrelenting. It rewards richly those who use it well and take its toll of those who use it ill. When we wake up in the morning our purse is filled with 24 hrs the most precious possession. At every moment we are creating our own future and dictating the terms of that future.

Proper use of TIME is the basic theme. The fraction of TIME that we can absolutely sure of is this moment, this second. Life is now, not yesterday or the day before, or an hour ago. Memory of past is there but can never be recalled. Past is gone and future is not predictable so this is the most vital moment to execute. So this TIME allotted should be used properly. It means we are arbiters of our own fate and have actually negotiated with fate for their misery, never realizing that they can just as easily negotiate for a happier, fuller and richer life.

If we are to use each day to the best advantage, we must challenge the pattern of our present daily habits. Adopting positive, constructive thoughts now and focusing our attention on a specific goal, we can create the circumstances we want in the future. Our circumstances of today are the results of thoughts in the past, and regardless of our present circumstances, they were ordered by each of us individually, wittingly or unwittingly. If they are not as we desire them to be, they still are the results of the thoughts we have entertained in the past.

For those who control their destiny, there is no monotonous existence, no bleak future, no moody boredom and no dismal days. Each new day represents a rare gift. It matters not how to spend it or how we conduct ourselves. It is still our day to do with as we want. The right decision is ours. We can take advantage of its many opportunities to stimulate our mind, to do better whatever we do, to do with a grater effort and enthusiasm, and with the desire to put our utmost into whatever it may be. On the other hand, if we fail to utilize it and then we return to older and worse state. There is nothing stationery in life; either we go forward or backward. This progress or retrogress is not monthly or yearly basis but daily and hourly basis. We don’t move by jerks but by trend of our thoughts which precedes us and charts our course. It cuts the path and we must walk it, or establish a new one, by establishing new thought patterns, new habits and new attitudes.

Time spent in anger or resentment is time thrown away. Not only it is not spent usefully but it poisons the system, destroys energy and takes its toll far beyond the actual period of time lost. So it is better to adjust our attitude to avoid this dissipation of our great heritage. This can be done by adopting a philosophy for living and working that may protect us from our inclination to be hurt, angry or upset.

Each of us should vanish the word “ CAN’T “ from our vocabulary and resolve never again to say or think, “ I have no time to do all these things “. We should plant in our subconscious mind “ I have not been able to fit this work in my present schedule “This not only avoids charging our mind with the thought of a limitation, but it charges our sub-conscious mind with a positive statement and clearly carries the expectation and intention of doing soon. It becomes an established act in our sub-conscious mind that it will be done, and so it is. Our capacity of accomplishing any job is usually much beyond our record of accomplishment.

We should avoid the excuses like “But I am too old”    “But I am too small”     “But I am not good enough yet”     “But I am handicapped”

We can do only those tasks what we think we can do. We can have only what we think we can have. Every thing we have, and do, are the results of our thoughts. In addition to our conscience the constant companion of all of us is our ATTITUDE, which speaks to us in varying degrees of strength. It mirrors our mental condition, our view point on life and the multitude of individual subjects that are a part of it in a thousand ways. It continually tells others what kind of person we are and how we react to the challenges of life. Unfortunately it is a mirror not open to our vision, but reveals clearly to every one else. If this awareness did exist and we realized that sooner or later our thoughts would be revealed along with our level of acceptance of life and circumstances of life, then undoubtedly we would make a great effort to disguise this outward flow of information

WHAT WE ARE AND WHAT WE THINK REVEAL IT SELF TO THOSE AROUND US. We should realize what we do. It is the most responsible factor for our position in life. If that position is not as we like it to be, it can be improved by changing our attitude only. Our attitude determines whether we drain its full essence, or leave its rich potential undisturbed and lost for ever from each day. One of the most destructive thieves of TIME is allowing our emotions than mind in thinking. When we permit our emotions to rule, we are relying upon a most unstable and dangerous condition. The mind of man is the key to survival or the door to destruction. To permit emotions to rule is indeed door to destruction. Angers and irritation are the manifestation of negative emotions. They consume tremendous energy and destroy the harmony of all who are with in reach of their vibrations.

When we direct our thoughts without emotions then they can be the passport to all the achievements of which we dream. We should protect ourselves from anger, irritation and the acceptance of disappointments by our intellect. When we are governed by our emotions instead of our intellect, such things become obstacles and detour us from our objectives. These obstacles possess the power only because our emotions created them and gave them life. One of the most successful ways to grab the most out of time is to avoid tenseness which is direct result of worry. Worry never robs tomorrow of its sorrow but destroy today of its strength. If we feel our self falling in to the trap of self-pity, we should learn to sit up and do something constructive immediately. If we feel extremely worried with some worrisome task, we should do it first and feel relaxed. Any problem that can’t be solved should be dismissed from conscious mind and given to subconscious mind without wasting much time and should go to other matter.

One of the wonderful things regarding subconscious mind is that it works tirelessly 24 hrs a day without fatigue. It never runs out of time. In it we have the perfect servant to handle our most difficult problems. By using our subconscious mind fully we can keep our conscious mind clear for day to day problems Thus we will have the TIME to think in broader way for future. Wrestling with problems does not solve them. Instead , we should give some thought to the problems then put it in an organized form and turn it over to subconscious mind to solve and expect for result before the dead line fixed by us. Our answer comes definitely

Another very important TIME SAVER is loneliness. We should spend 15 minutes each day in quietness, freeing our mind of the pressure and demands of the day. We must think clearer, faster and more effectively after that quietness. We should not struggle for ideas they will come after we sit quietly for some time. Human mind has amazing powers which few of us ever draw upon, so small is our knowledge, and so limited is our faith. The subconscious area of our mind is an unplumbed reservoir of creative insight and intuition.

The ancients divided our 24 hrs/per day in three parts, eight hrs for work, eight hrs for rest and eight hours  for sleep. By using our subconscious mind we can have twenty four hours for productive thinking. Failure to act is one of the greatest causes of failure to achieve. How we spend our free time is up to us. What happens on week end and between six pm to nine am always shows in what we perform between nine am to six pm.There are many constructive ways in which TIME after working hrs can be invested by the persons who want to distinguish themselves from others. Reading publications, in analysing the performance of the day just ended, in planning tomorrow’s schedule. We should write down a list of things to accomplish the next day, and list them in order of importance. We should stay on the first task unless it is finished, and then start the second. One of the most important and often stated rules to complete the task is “DO IT NOW “because the only property we possess is just this moment. Another thing is “waiting for the perfect conditions to start any thing is most undesirable.” That situation never exists. We should launch the project in available conditions and perfect it along the way.

In developing TIME CONSCIOUSNESS you should learn to coordinate activities and to use each moment. As an example, never to make a telephone call without having work in front of you that you can work on while waiting for your call to go through. Basically TIME is more important than MONEY.

14 THOUGHTS ON INVESTING TIME WISELY

1 DEVELOP TIME CONSCIOUSNESS  It is an acute awareness of its existence and that “ EVERY MOMENT I LIVE “

2 ANALYSE TO PRESENT USE OF TIME you should be more selective in the things you do, the books you read or the TV shows you watch. You should see how you can do them more quickly.

3 PUT YOURSELF ON A SCHEDULE you should be critical in construction of your schedule eliminating all unnecessary things. And more important is to follow the time allotted to each task

4 ENFORCE PERSONAL DISCIPLINE  It is necessary to carry out the schedule and to discharge all your responsibilities properly to your subordinates and most important to your self.

5 TO RECOGNIZE FIRST THING FIRST  This should be a critical appraisal also. The day’s work should be laid out on an analytical basis

DAY’S PLANNING IN ADVANCE. For more efficient working you should develop your habit to plan and note down every thing in the evening for tomorrow.

7 PUNCTUALITY   A person who is just a little late for work or in returning from lunch is proclaiming a lack of interest in his/her job and also in his/her welfare. It is better to be a little early and stay a little late than to be.This nature of providing extra mile proves fruitful in service as well as in business. Perhaps the greatest disaster resulting from lateness is the destructive habit and attitude, which is being developed by the person involved.

8 INITIATIVE   it is the horse power which drives you through your daily task.

9 CHEERFULNESS  A happy and cheerful person not only demonstrates his/her maturity but also accomplishes far more than the sour, discouraged or unhappy person.

10 EXCESS PHONE CALLS  Everyone must have a personal phone call now and then, but it should be reduced to minimum and only for the most important occasions. Time spent on personal calls or visits during business hours is unfair to the employer, to your self and represents an unwise investment of time.

11 ATTENTION  Time spent in day dreaming during business hours is most unproductive. It always creates opportunity for errors as well as low production. Dreams are quite important, and everyone should dream, but during the eight hours for work they should be put aside.

12 DISTINGUISH YOURSELF you should establish a goal of “being the best in your field “whatever it might be. You should be satisfied with nothing less than a brilliant performer, a consciousness of your own ability and worth as an individual, and of your own responsibility to your self.

13 INTEREST IN YOUR JOB  Time should be spent with an interest in your job may be employee or employer. Creating interest in the job develop a greater awareness for all aspect of life so that all things you do have and hold a greater interest for you. You should put your 100 % in your work to create wonderful results.  People who are not interested in their job frequently have no real focused interest of any kind.

14 DO IT NOW   These three words have solved many problems of TIME  Present moment is the only moment to do any thing because past is gone and future is not predictable

TO BEGIN IS HALF OF THE WORK DONE

“If you deliberate fully before taking a step, you may stand on one leg for your entire life.”

THE MIND IS CREATIVE, BUT IT MUST HAVE SOME OBJECTIVE OR BLUE PRINT ON WHICH IT CAN WORK. Analysing your present use of time and developing time schedule you can establish a blue print that your mind can respond to if you are faithful in observing it. You should count each day a separate life. The new day is a separate life which you greet every morning grows old swiftly and slips into the past. you should live each day wonderfully so that if it were to be the last day allotted. If you were given the privilege of reliving it, you would not want to change any thought, any word or any action. No regrets about that which could have been done and was not. No regrets about time lost through waste or negative use.

WE ARE MASTERS OF OUR GOOD OR BAD FATE BECAUSE WE HAVE CREATED IT. TIME IS OUR VEHICLE, MIND IS OUR POWER, AND IMAGINATION SETS OUR BOUNDARY.

Bengali cuisine is the only traditionally developed multi-course tradition from the Indian subcontinent that is analogous in structure to the modern style of French cuisine, with food served course-wise rather than all at once. Bengali cuisine differs according to regional tastes, such as the emphasis on the use of chilli pepper in the Chittagong district of The cuisine is known for subtle flavours with an emphasis on fish, vegetables, lentils, and rice.[ Bread is not a common dish in Bengali cuisine, but a deep fried version called luchi is popular. Fresh sweetwater fish is one of its most distinctive features; Bengalis prepare fish in many ways, such as steamingbraising, or stewing in vegetables and sauces based on coconut milk or mustard. ITALIAN CUISINE THEMATIC

ITALIAN CUISINE

Few would doubt the importance of food to Italian national and cultural identity. Food is widely recognized to be a fundamental part of what it means to be Italian. National signature dishes — which actually originated in the Italian cities, regions, or localities — provide many proud Italians with a cause for national celebration. Italian food also constitutes a key feature of global food culture. The development of international food chains selling pizza or pasta ensures that people across the globe recognize Italy as one of the world’s great food nations.

theme itli 1eat itali 1

Italian cuisine is said to be the mother cuisine of Southern Europe. Italians believe that preserving the characteristic tastes of the separate ingredients rather than blending them together, enhances the pleasure of eating. A dish of pasta is only as good as the pasta itself. The Italian menu is lively and interesting and has a wide variety of foods for vegetarians. Italians generously add taste to their food with a wide variety of fresh or dried herbs, spices and more importantly, olives, either by themselves or as olive oil.

There are 9 Essential Ingredients of Italian Cuisine

Italian cuisine follows the Mediterranean pattern of eating—it focuses on simple, natural ingredients, such as tomatoes, garlic, olive oil, dark leafy greens and whole grains, making it one of the world’s healthiest diets. Research suggests that the benefits of a Mediterranean-style eating pattern may include improved weight loss, better control of blood-glucose (sugar) levels and reduced risk of depression. Find out which essential ingredients of Italian cuisine you should add to your diet.

1 Olive Oil

Make olive oil, which is high in monounsaturated fat, your go-to cooking oil. By replacing butter with olive oil—the most commonly used oil in the Mediterranean—you’ll cut back on saturated fat, help lower “bad” LDL cholesterol and boost levels of “good” HDL cholesterol. In addition, extra-virgin olive oil is high in antioxidants called polyphenols that have been linked to heart health.

Try eating like an Italian by dressing your salad greens with a drizzle of extra-virgin olive oil and a squeeze of lemon or use olive oil to sauté fresh vegetables. You can even use olive oil in place of butter in baking

 2 Tomatoes

There’s nothing quite like a ripe tomato, whether served on a bed of fresh greens or made into an Italian red sauce to dress a bowl of hearty pasta. Tomatoes are packed with vitamin C and lycopene, a heart-protective antioxidant that may also help prevent some cancers (particularly prostate). Vitamin A, potassium and folate are also among the tomato’s nutritional benefits. Although cooked tomatoes have less vitamin C, their lycopene is more available and antioxidant activity is undiminished.
To boost the tomatoes in your diet, add fresh tomatoes to your salads, soups or pasta dishes, or learn how to make homemade tomato sauce. Or slice a juicy tomato and enjoy the simple, fresh flavor of tomatoes with a piece of whole-grain toast and a sprinkling of grated Parmesan.

3 Garlic

Garlic is magical; at least that’s what the ancients Romans thought. We now know that garlic has both antibiotic and antifungal properties. In an era before antibiotics, garlic may have kept the Greeks and Romans free of infection. Garlic boasts anticancer characteristics—studies show it may lower breast, colon, stomach, throat and skin cancer risks. It’s heart-healthy, too, as it’s been shown to prevent clotting. The secret to all these health benefits? Sulfides. Those beneficial sulfides aren’t released, however, unless the garlic is crushed or chopped and left to sit for at least 10 to 15 minutes before eating or cooking. Garlic purchased already chopped offers the same benefits.
Garlic’s characteristic flavor adds dimension to just about any dish. Try adding chopped garlic to sautéed greens, salad dressings or homemade spaghetti sauce.

4 Seafood

Seafood is a staple protein in Italian diets; any and all kinds of shellfish and fish are celebrated, often several in the same dish. While fattier types like tuna and salmon supply heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids, lean seafood like shrimp, mussels, squid and sea bass provide ample protein, niacin and selenium. Serve fish or seafood at least twice a week.

To add more seafood and fish to your Italian cooking, try adding shrimp or scallops to your favorite Italian pasta recipe.

5 Whole Grains

Historically, unrefined grains (whole wheat pasta, whole grain bread, barley, whole wheat couscous) are the base of most Mediterranean diets. Leaving the grains whole lowers their glycemic index, so they are digested more slowly and produce gentler rises in glucose and insulin than refined versions; they also retain all their fiber, magnesium, vitamin E and other antioxidant phytochemicals. Diets rich in whole grains may protect against heart disease, diabetes and other chronic diseases. Top toasted whole-grain bread with diced tomatoes, garlic and basil and toss whole-wheat pasta with olive oil, garlic and Parmesan cheese.

6 Beans

Beans are an essential, satisfying and healthy ingredient often found in Italian cuisine. Aim to swap out some of your meat and get your protein from beans and other legumes like lentils and chickpeas. By displacing meat, you’ll lower your saturated-fat intake while adding healthful nutrients, like fiber and antioxidant-rich flavonols. Eaten daily, combined with grains and starches, beans provide high-quality protein along with folate, calcium, iron and zinc. They also offer healthy, filling doses of fiber (both soluble and insoluble), phytates and phytosterols; studies suggest beans may help manage diabetes, prevent colon cancer and reduce heart disease risk.
Add a dish or two that contain beans and other legumes to your weekly menu. Try our Bean Bolognese for a hearty bean pasta dish, spread pureed beans on homemade pizza or make a minestrone soup with beans.

7 Dark Leafy Greens

To be Italian is to appreciate dark leafy vegetables, especially broccoli rabe, an earthy bitter brassica that pairs beautifully with bold ingredients like sausage, anchovy and hot pepper. Dark leafy greens are nutrition superstars, providing plenty of vitamins A, C and K as well as heart-healthy fiber and cancer-fighting antioxidants. Include a generous portion of rich dark leafy greens, such as chard, kale, escarole and collards, either in a salad or sautéed with olive oil, plenty of garlic and a touch of crushed red pepper.

8 Nuts

Nut trees are almost as common as olive trees in Italy. Nuts are savored as snacks, ground into sauces and sprinkled on salads. Nuts are loaded with heart-friendly monounsaturated fat; they’re also rich sources of protein, fiber, vitamin E, folate, calcium and magnesium. Nut protein is also high in arginine, an amino acid that helps maintain healthy blood vessels. Try topping your salad with chopped nuts, adding nuts to your baking or making a nutty sauce like pesto with almonds, pine nuts or hazelnuts.

9 Red Wine

What Italian dinner is complete without a glass of wine? And preferably, for health, make it red wine. Enjoying wine in moderation during meals, not drinking alone outside of the meal and never in excess, can increase “good” HDL cholesterol, may help regulate blood sugar and can even help you digest your food and absorb its nutrients. Pour yourself a 5-ounce serving of your favorite Chianti, Montepulciano or other Italian red to pair with the earthy flavors of Italian cooking.

JAPANESE CUISINE THEMATIC

JAPANESE CUISINE

We at kv wedding consultants present Japanese cuisine in the same ambiance as in japan

th japan 2

Japanese eat first with their eyes. Their formal meal consists of a series of exquisite dishes that are as beautiful as they are delicious. Japanese people are known for the greatest longevity amongst all the people of the world. This is mainly due to their well-balanced food. From seafood to soya beans and high fiber vegetables to valuable carbohydrate products, there is little room for fat in their diet.

eat japan

Japanese cuisine  offers an abundance of gastronomical delights with a boundless variety of regional and seasonal dishes as well as international cuisine. Restaurants range from mobile food stands to centuries old ryotei, atmospheric drinking places

 Regional Food Guides

Japan is divided into distinct geographic regions, each of which has developed its own unique culinary traditions. As a result travelers can encounter a diverse set of regional foods as they move from area to area.

With its stunning natural landscape and strong cultural identity, Japan is a once-in-a-lifetime holiday destination. The East Asian island is also home to some deliciously fresh cuisine.

Unique and beguiling, Japan is a country of binaries. It straddles both the traditional and ultra-modern, and hosts buzzing cities alongside stunning natural landscapes. Its food is notoriously nutritious, with a diet based around super-fresh, seasonal products. We’ve picked ten dishes to seek out when visiting Japan.

1 Sushi

eat japan sushi 2

Sushi is raw fish served on rice seasoned lightly with vinegar. It’s in the variety of flavors and textures – like tangy, creamyuni (sea urchin roe) and plump, juicy, ama-ebi (sweet shrimp) – that things get interesting. Despite sushi’s lofty image, it has a humble origin: street food.

2 Ramen
eat japan ramen 1

Ramen, egg noodles in a salty broth, is Japan’s favorite late night meal. It’s also the perfect example of an imported dish – in this case from China – that the Japanese have made completely and deliciously their own. There are four major soup styles: tonkotsu (pork bone), miso, soy sauce and salt. Fukuoka is particularly famous for its rich tonkotsu ramen; pungent miso ramen is a specialty of Hokkaido.

3 Unagi

eat japan unagi

Unagi is river eel grilled over charcoal and lacquered with a sweet barbecue sauce. According to folklore, Unagi is the ideal antidote to the heat and humidity of Japan’s stultifying summers. It’s a delicacy evocative of old Japan and most restaurants that specialize in eel have a wonderfully traditional feel. Fresh, wild-caught Unagi is available May through October.

4 Tempura

eat japan tempura street

Light and fluffy tempura is Japan’s contribution to the world of deep-fried foods (though it likely originated with Portuguese traders). The batter-coated seafood and vegetables are traditionally fried in sesame oil and served with either a tiny pool of salt or a dish of soy sauce-flavored broth spiked with grated radish for dipping. Do not miss out on ebi-ten (tempura prawns).

5 Kaiseki

eat japan kaiseki

Part dinner, part work of art, Kaiseki is Japan’s haute cuisine. It originated centuries ago alongside the tea ceremony in Kyoto (and Kyoto remains the capital of Kaiseki). There’s no menu, just a procession of small courses meticulously arranged on exquisite crockery. Only fresh ingredients are used and each dish is designed to evoke the current season.

6 Soba

eat japan soba

Soba – long, thin buckwheat noodles – has long been a staple of Japanese cuisine, particularly in the mountainous regions where hardy buckwheat fares better than rice. The noodles are served in either a hot, soy sauce-flavored broth or at room temperature on a bamboo mat with broth on the side for dipping. Purists, who bemoan soup-logged noodles, prefer the latter.

7 Shabu-Shabu

eat japan shabu shabu

Shabu-Shabu is the Japanese onomatopoeia for the sound of thin slices of beef or pork being swished around with chopsticks in bubbling broth. It’s a decadent dish, with platters of marbled meat brought to the table for diners to cook themselves – it takes only a moment – one mouthful at a time.

8 Okonomiyaki

eat japan okonomiyaki

Literally “grilled as you like,” Okonomiyaki is Japanese comfort food at its best, and a clear violation of the typical refined image of Japanese food. It’s a savoury pancake filled with any number of things (but usually cabbage and pork) and topped with fish flakes, dried seaweed, mayonnaise and a Worcester-style sauce. It’s also a lot of fun: At most restaurants, diners grill the dish themselves at a hotplate built into the table.

9 Tonkatsu

eat japan tonkatsu

Tonkatsu, breaded and deep-fried pork cutlet, dates to the late 19th Century when Japan threw open its doors to Western influence. But never mind the European origin: the ingredients and attention to detail are thoroughly Japanese. Tonkatsu – especially when it’s kuro-buta(Berkshire pork) from Kagoshima – is melt-in-your-mouth tender, served with a side of miso soup and a mountain of shredded cabbage.

10 Yakitori

eat japan yakitori

A cold beer and a few skewers of yakitori – charcoal grilled chicken – is an evening ritual for many of Japan’s weekday warriors. Nearly every part of the chicken is on the menu, all grilled to perfection, seasoned with either shio (salt) or tare (a sweet soy sauce-based sauce) and served with a side of friendly banter.

MEDITERRANEAN CUISINE THEMATIC

Mediterranean cuisine

it is the food from the cultures adjacent to the Mediterranean Sea. Although this region spans a wide variety of cultures, the historical connections of the region, as well as the impact of the Mediterranean Sea on the region’s climate and economy, have led to there being many common elements in the foods.

The idea of the “standard Mediterranean” … is a modern construction of food writers and publicists in Europe and North America earnestly preaching what is now thought to be a healthy diet to their audiences by invoking a stereotype of the healthy other on the shores of the Mediterranean. Their colleagues in Mediterranean countries are only too willing to perpetuate this myth. The fact of the matter is that the Mediterranean contains varied cultures

From Morocco, to Italy, to Greece, to Turkey, to the Middle East, these recipes are tasty and none take more than 20 minutes to make. By: Text: Jason Horn and Cooking Light staff

1 Chicken Souvlaki

eat medi souvalki ch

Our version of this Greek favorite requires exactly two minutes and 20 seconds of cooking, thanks to rotisserie chicken. We replaced the traditional tzatziki sauce with a zesty mix of yogurt, feta, and dill, which boosts the flavor content without adding fat. Serve with your favorite Mediterranean side―baba ghanoush, tabbouleh, and couscous are all good choices.

2 Artichoke and Arugula Pizza with Prosciutto

eat medi artichke pizza

A balance of flavors is the key to this recipe. The bitter arugula, sweet artichoke, salty prosciutto, and creamy mozzarella are in perfect equilibrium atop a crisp-and-chewy crust and pesto sauce. Not only is the combination of tastes more satisfying than pepperoni and red sauce, this pizza takes just 11 minutes to bake―no longer than a frozen one.

3 Superfast Kofta

eat medi super kofte

A Turkish take on the mini-hamburger, these use tangy yogurt in place of cheese and pita instead of buns. They get their unique flavor from common pantry spices in an uncommon combination. The best part is how fast they cook―eight minutes is all you need for a meaty and satisfying dinner for four. Serve with hummus and extra pita for dipping.

4 Seared Mediterranean Tuna Steaks

EAT MEDI SEARED TUNA

The tuna and tomato are the stars in this dish, so be sure to use good-quality ones to let their flavors shine. A sprinkling of salt, pepper, and coriander give the fish just a hint of spice to complement its tenderness and delicate taste when cooked medium rare. The salsa-like mix of tomato, capers, garlic, and olive provides a fresh accent; you can also try it on pork, chicken, or even as a dip with pita chips.

5 Herbed Greek Chicken Salad

eat medi herbed

Greek seasoning―as simple as oregano and lemon―pairs fantastically with chicken and forms the base for this fresh and healthful salad. Yogurt and tahini make a creamy dressing, while kalamata olives and feta cheese add their own distinctly Greek flavors to the party. Each large, satisfying serving has only 243 calories.

6 Rigatoni with Green Olive-Almond Pesto and Asiago Cheese

eat medi rigatoni

In this deliciously different pesto, olives and parsley stand in for basil and almonds for pine nuts. It’s a strong flavor, but a nice one for this dish, incorporated into a sauce with vinegar, cheese, and the pasta’s cooking liquid so it adheres well to the noodles. The pesto mixture has lots of other uses, too―spread on sliced French bread and bake for a new twist on garlic bread, or try it as a tapenade spread at your next party

7 Garlic-Rosemary Lamb Pita

eat medi garlic rsemary

Break out of a rut with this tasty dish. Juicy Greek-spiced lamb with cool-and-tangy tzatziki sauce in a pita makes for a great meal that takes less than 10 minutes to prepare. Pair with oven fries, baked potatoes, or rice pilaf, plus kalamata olives for a full meal.

8 Greek-Style Scampi

eat medi greek scanpi

Instead of drowning the shrimp in butter, this recipe sautés them in healthful olive oil, and then adds tomatoes to make a simple, speedy sauce that cooks in the time it takes to boil pasta. A sprinkling of crumbly feta on top adds tangy and creamy elements. Add your favorite salad or lightly cooked spinach on the side.

9 Lemon Chicken Pita Burgers with Spiced Yogurt Sauce

eat medi lemon ch pita

Green onion, Greek seasoning, and lemon ensure zesty flavor in these burgers. The recipe is very much open to variation, as well: Take the patties out of the pita and serve with couscous or rice pilaf, or just make the sauce to pair with falafel

 10 Greek-Flavored Turkey Burgers

eat medi gr fl turkey b

These burgers hide a surprise: Each bite yields a surge of minty flavor, a pungent crunch of red onion, or a tangy burst of feta cheese. To make a complete meal, serve the burgers with a simply cooked vegetable―steamed broccoli, sautéed zucchini, or whatever else you like―dressed with lemon, olive oil, and a little oregano.

11 Couscous with Artichokes, Feta, and Sun-Dried Tomatoes

eat medi couscous feta

Pure and simple flavors stand out in this dish. In each bite, you’ll taste the sweet tang of tomatoes, the salty bite of feta, the tender juiciness of chicken, and the briny sweetness of marinated artichoke hearts. Israeli couscous makes the recipe unique―its grains are much larger than regular couscous and they add a chewy texture that’s another layer of depth.

12 Seared Scallops with Lemon Orzo

eat medi searedscallopes

Scallops are a great protein for superfast dishes, as their delicate tenderness is best served when cooked fast and hot. Sear the scallops while the orzo cooks and you can have dinner done in about 18 minutes. If you’re not a scallop fan, substitute large peeled shrimp, slices of pork tenderloin, or small filet mignon.

13 Spinach, Chicken, and Feta Salad

eat medi spin ch feta salad

Simple preparation doesn’t mean this salad has simple tastes. The lemon-balsamic-Dijon mustard vinaigrette has layers of flavor that interact with all the different fresh ingredients to keep each bite interesting. And it’s a nutrient powerhouse to boot: A serving provides nearly a full day’s protein and almost a third of a day’s fiber with only 369 calories

14 Tomato-Mozzarella Pizza

eat medi tomato pizza

It’s faster (and healthier) than delivery, plus it incorporates fresh tomatoes and basil, creamy real mozzarella, and crispy pancetta. To save even more time, use a packaged prebaked crust instead of the dough and eliminate the initial baking step

15 Greek Lamb Chops

eat medi greek l chops

This is almost the simplest recipe possible―cover lamb chops with a five-ingredient rub, broil eight minutes, and you’re done―but it yields wonderfully satisfying flavor that’s a nice departure from the weeknight-dinner norm. In the photo, the chops are served over couscous with tomato, cucumber, and feta, but you can slice and serve in pitas instead, or pair with baked potatoes, rice pilaf, orzo, or any other starchy side.

16 Pasta with Sun-Dried Tomato Pesto and Feta Cheese

eat medi pasta feta ch

This vegetarian entrée combines flavors from all over the Mediterranean―Spanish almonds, Italian pasta, Greek feta―to create a satisfyingly rich dish. Oil from the sun-dried tomatoes and pasta cooking water whir together in the food processor to make a creamy sauce that’s amplified by the feta cheese on top. Summer vegetables like zucchini, yellow squash, or green beans would make a good accompaniment.

17 Linguine with Garlicky Clams and Peas

eat medi linguine

A few simple ingredients yield great Italian flavor with amazing speed. Lots of garlic, a little wine, Parmesan, and fresh basil combine in a briny sauce that makes a perfect light, summery dinner. You can substitute shrimp or scallops in place of clams, but they may have to cook a bit longer. In any case, all a bowl of this pasta needs is a basic salad, some crusty bread, and a cold glass of white wine to make a memorable meal.
